![]() ![]() I'm sure that the HULL-C is not a smuggler vessel, but in the pirate/smuggling community they have a different use for it.īut don't get me wrong. In other example of ship cannibalistic changes is the MISC HULL - C, that is design for legitimate standard transport purposes, but has recently become a favorite for smugglers who refit the interior without modifying its innocent outward appearance. But you miss my point, And I will use you example of the NCC-1701, If you take all the modules that make it a exploration vessel, take all the extra crew and room that will not need after took the exploration capabilities and put only cargo modules on it you can "create" ( not built, nor design or re-purpose it) a vessel that can carry more cargo that is suppose to. The Carrack is NOT a cargo vessel, the subject of the OP They are two different ships, two different experience at the game play, because of the size, crew and JP capabilities, you have time to think about it. My point is that you can get the freelancer, and if you have to money, crew and time later on, buy the other too or change ships. But at the end I dont think I could afford the Carrack and the crew requirements, Not yet decided, I thinking on the Freelancer DUR then let the time show me If I should melt it and change to a Carrack. Like the TV series "Andromeda", "Voyager" and "SG Universe". The carrack in the other hand give me the experience of be in ship, where I could go far and far without thinking I have to come back to repair, for fuel or medic. The freelancer give me the freedom of going solo or with a few friends to explore, salvage or haul. I want to do some exploration but be capable or bring some cargo from the travels. ![]() I'm in a similar predicament, not sure to get the Freelancer DUR or a Carrack. To me, the Freelancer is freedom, and its what I trust, out in the black. It's your baby, that you struggled to get, modded yourself, and will defend mercilessly. I also feel like the Lancer is more personal and rustic. But as another forum poster noted (can't remember who atm), but the excitement of having a Lancer out in deep space (and its target to pirates) will create a heightened sense of realism and danger. For me, the Connie is my next upgrade, given an ample crew, so I want that sense of struggle in-game to work up towards it. Plus, I want to have something that I can upgrade into. ![]() I feel that unless I had a crew of pcs that would consistently fly with me, the Constellation could feel too large and disconnected. Now, if I had 2 other pcs to join me consistently, that's a different story. I plan on getting the Misc version, because it's an all-around Lancer (rather than the Dur, Mis, or Max each catered to a specific role). I like the feel of the smaller Lancer, and the ability to upgrade it combat capable, along with its smaller crew. Personally, even if I had the money for both, I would start with the Lancer. The Freelancer and Constellation are the two ships that immediately caught my eye. ![]()
